Ingredients:
Crust:
- 1 c. flour
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ c. shortening
- 3-4 Tbl. cold water
Combine all ingredients by cutting in the shortening and using only the water needed. Roll out into a circle and place into a pie pan.
(Alternatively, use a ready-made pie crust.)
Filling:
- 5-7 tart apples, preferably Granny Smith, peeled and cut into wedges
- 1 Tbl. flour (or ¼ c.)
- ¾ tsp. cinnamon (or 1 tsp.)
- ½ c. white sugar (or brown sugar)
Combine all ingredients and place into the unbaked pie shell.
Crumb Topping:
- 6 Tbl. butter
- ⅓ c. white sugar (or brown sugar)
- ¼ tsp. salt
- ¾ c. flour
Directions:
Combine all ingredients and place on top of the apple mixture. Bake at 400 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
